Worried that you will catch the flu or other viruses that are circling thoughout our community? You may not be aware that you have some powerful self help tools at your fingertips – literally. Eden Energy Medicine offers easy and effective ways to reduce your chances of one of these nasty viruses claiming a home in your body. Doing Donna Eden’s Daily Energy Routine strengthens the energy systems in your body, allowing your immune system to be able to function better and keep you well. One of the best ways to learn more about this is to attend a class; I teach Eden Energy Medicine as Preventative Self Care during the Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters at COCC here in Bend. But, if you can’t make it to a class, you have other options as well. Donna’s brand new book, “The Little Book of Energy Medicine” has the exercises of the Daily Routine in it, and is set up to be user friendly for anyone looking for techniques to help a specific problem. You can find this at the Innersource Store (www.innersource.net) as well as on Nook and Kindle devices. BUT – at the first sign that you might be getting ill, start doing the Four Thumps exercise:
Place the pads of your fingers on your cheek bones next to your nose. Thump firmly for about 15 seconds.
Next, bring your fingers to your collarbones at the inner edges. Find the points of the bone, drop into the “U” that is formed. Move to the left and right about an inch; tap firmly for 10-15 seconds. If it is sore here, you need it!
Then, place the fingers of one, or both hands in the center of the sternum or breast bone. Thump firmly for 15 seconds. Underneath this is the thymus gland; one of its jobs is to produce lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that fights viral infections. Thumping the area signals the gland to boost production of these cells.
Finally, take your fingers to the edge of your breasts, in line with the nipple. Drop down to the first rib. Thump here for 15 seconds as well. This site is often sore, and again if it is, you need this. These are the Spleen meridian neurolymphatic reflex points. Spleen meridian plays a critical role in immune system function.
Do these Four Thumps often – every half hour to an hour. Drink lots of water, and REST!! Yes, the time honored tradition of rest allows your body to marshall its energies to fight infection. Oh, and a little chicken soup can be a great adjunct here, too. Our bodies have an innate intelligence and can heal themselves when we allow them the time, space, and energy to do so.
