What is Energy?

Updated: Apr 30

Energy is simply the ability to do work. It can come in many forms: mechanical, (movement) hydroelectric (water powered), sunlight, electromagnetic (batteries), etc. There are also subtle energies involved in the body’s functions. Did you know that electricity helps govern the rhythm of your heart, and your brain? There are other lesser-known sources of energy and function in the body that exist, and can actually be measured. This is the first part in a series designed to help one understand the power of marshaling our body’s energy so that it functions at the most optimal level possible. Let’s start exploring!

In many conventional health care settings the terms “energy healing,” “frequency healing,” “grounding,” etc. are intermingled terms often met with skepticism and disbelief; and just as easily frequently ignored. But as well-known physicist (and energy healer) Dr. James Oschman writes: “Energy is the ability to do work, and employs basic, accepted principles of physics.” In fact we know more about how energy or frequency healing works than we do about how the human body actually works.

Energy, the ability to do work, can cause frequencies that stimulate the hairs in the inner ear to vibrate, allowing the sense of sound or hearing. He believes odor molecules stimulate the tiny hairs in the nose (cilia) vibrate and send signals to the brain (frequencies) for the interpretation of smell. Physics helps to explain when one is out of balance in the field, one can accidentally break an arm of leg.

Two well known laws of physics, Ampere’s law, and Faradays’ law, help explain how people’s own energies and frequencies can interact with each other. This can help explain the colloquial term “vibes” – vibration simply refers to the motion of atoms in relationship to each other. Atoms are comprised of protons (positively charged), neutrons (neutral) and electrons – negatively charged. Ampere’s Law of Magnetism (magnetism from electricity)  relates to the fact that electrons flowing through space give rise to magnetic fields. A real life example of this is the documented fact that the flow of blood through the human heart gives rise to a toroidal shaped field around the human body; generally extending out to the edge of the fingertips. This is often called the Biofield as well.

Faraday’s Law of Induction (electricity from magnetism) relates to the fact that magnetic fields can cause currents to flow through conductors, or coils. Many of the body’s organ’s have a helical aspect, or coil component, which can help to explain how these two laws of physics help to explain how energy flowing from various frequency devices AND most especially the human hand, can give rise to therapeutic effects. Subsequent blog posts will delve much more deeply into the fascinating, multi-level phenomenon of energy healing.
